His works — including the Palazzetto dello Sport (1957) in Rome, the Tour de la Bourse in Montreal, and the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris (with Breuer and Zehrfuss) — demonstrate that structural engineering at its highest level is indistinguishable from art.
